Papertrey Ink July Blog Hop!

Its been awhile since I have participated in the monthly PTI Blog Hops so I thought I would jump right back into it this month.  I couldn't have picked a better month!

This months challenge offered up this photo for inspiration:

I have to admit, its not a color combination I would have EVER put together on my own, but I find that together they are so wonderfully pleasing to the eye!  This is the card I made, using this photo for inspiration:

There were a lot of elements to this photo that really spoke to me - and I tried to translate them to the card.  For starters, the wood detail of the bench seat... I used three Postage die cuts and inked them to make them appear dimensional.  I also mimicked the cushion, by adding a simple green strip across the card.  I matted the cream card stock with the orange - but only on the sides - much like the orange curtains in the photo are framing the window.

I brought the brown of the wooden blinds into the card, by matting everything on a Kraft base.

To recreate the effect of the pillows, I took inspiration from the pattern on the blanket, and stamped the Blooms die cuts and the leaves with the Mehndi Medallion and Background Basics: Newsprint stamps before cutting them out.

I added the sentiment to the top right to balance the flower at the bottom left.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed HOPPING along :-)

-Kristen

  11. Wow, you took everything in the photo into consideration when making this card! I love that you made the flower look like pillows :) (not to mention that the flower itself is beautiful as well!) and that you added the detail from the window seat. Seriously awesome job :)

  12. So creative to emphasize the window seat! That caught my eye too, but I got distracted by the pillows on top. LOve your card.
